Meet Your Teachers: Ms. Arena:
Barbara Arena, co-team leader, is the veteran of the group with 37 years in Danvers as a Junior High/Middle School Art Teacher. She received her BS Ed. From Massachusetts College of Art and a Masters degree from Penn State University. She has been involved in many school-wide projects over the years and continues to have fun exploring with her students to find new things to do.
Mr. Surette:
Jeffrey Surette, art teacher, has been teaching at the Middle School since 1997. He taught for two years in New Hampshire before coming to Danvers. Jeff Surette earned his B.F.A. in Art Education at MA College of Art and a M.Ed. in Arts Education & Supervision at Fitchburg State College Surette’s personal work includes woodcarving, technical drawing, digital art, and watercolor painting. He also owns and teaches out of an Art Studio for Children in Wilmington.

Antonios
(Tony) Vatousios is the Chorus teacher and Music Technology teacher at
HRMS. Mr. Vatousios was born and raised in Greece and migrated to
America to attend Berklee College of Music where he majored in Jazz
Composition. At the completion of his degree he joined the US Navy
Band in Newport RI where he completed six years of active duty
service. During that time he attained his Master in Music Education
degree from the University of Rhode Island. He began his teaching
career at Riverside Elementary School in Danvers in 1999. Mr.
Vatousios recently completed his Certificate in Advanced Graduate
Studies in Education from Salem State College. He lives in Danvers
with his wife and three children.^top
Meet Mrs. Gray:
Sherri Gray just finished her first year at Holten- Richmond Middle
School as a Computer Education teacher. For many years she was an
Instructional Media Specialist as well as an adjunct faculty member at
Salem State College. She taught media communication, computer
production, and video/editing for the English, Education, and
Communications departments. Sherri has also directed and edited many
video programs and is glad the middle school students have the
opportunity to learn digital video production and editing in her imovie
classes. Sherri received a B.F.A from the Tisch School at New York
University and has an M.Ed in Instructional Technology from Rhode
Island College.

Meet Mr. Day: Roger
Day has been a physical education teacher in Danvers for the past eight
years. After graduating from the University of Maine, he received his
Masters Degree in School Administration from Salem State College. He is
also certified to teach Science and Health. Prior to teaching in
Danvers , Mr. Day taught two years in Portland, Maine and twenty years
in Marblehead. He also coaches Varsity Baseball at Danvers High School.
First
year at Holten-Richmond Middle School. I graduated Salem State College
with a BA in Sport, Fitness, and Leisure with a concentration in
Physical Education. I coached the middle school field hockey team this
year. I will also be involved with some of the D.A.R.E after school
programs. I am very excitied to start my career teaching here at
Holten-Richmond. My hope is that all students try their best and put
forth a good effort when learning a new sport or activity. Hopefully it
will bring some interest to something new.
Jack
Jones is in his third year teaching Physical Education in Danvers. This
will be Jack's seventh year teaching in Danvers. The previous four have
been teaching in the area of Special Education. He also spent nine
years teaching in the Triton Regional School District and at the
Landmark School. Jack received his undergraduate degree from Assumption
College. He earned his Masters degree in Special Education from Boston
College and his Physical Education degree from Salem State and Boston
University. Jack is also the Defensive Coordinator for the
Hamilton-Wenham High School football team.
Ms.
Bennett grew up outside of Philadelphia back in the Dark Ages. She
left Pennsylvania to attend Bates College in Maine. After a ten-year
career in human services she followed her dream to Boston University
where she received her master?s degree in education. Ms. Bennett began
her teaching career as a coach at M.I.T. but decided that she really
loved teaching young students and so she found her place in Danvers.
For eight years Ms. Bennett taught Physical Education at the middle and
high schools and directed the middle school musical. Then the
opportunity came for her to teach Public Speaking and Drama at the
middle school as well as directing. The rest is history?^top
John Puchalski, Technology
Education teacher, former Industrial Arts teacher, has been teaching in
Danvers since 1972. He is a graduate of the State University College at
Oswego, N.Y.
Mark Gargan, Mark Gargan has been teaching at
the middle school for the past 12 years. He is a graduate of the
University of Maine, Technology Education Program, and received his
Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College. He recently
introduced Pro Desk Top, (a 3-dimensional drawing program) as an
additional class for those students that have completed the Middle
School Technology Education program.
